GLOBAL VILLAGE – SHELTER FOR RESILIENT LIVING was the main topic of International scientific conference which was held from 21-23rd of  November 2023. in organization of University of Belgrade – Faculty of Architecture and Balkan Architectural Biennale, with the support of the Ministry of Science, Technological Development and Innovation Republic of Serbia, and endorsed by ISOCARP, gathering academics, professionals, and practitioners in the fields of Architecture, Urbanism, Technology, Design,. This year the special focus on visionary forms of living in global village. Conference was  opened by keynote  lectures: Pietro Elisei, ISOCARP president – PLANNING CONTEMPORARY CITIES: BETWEEN URBANISATION AND CLIMATE CHANGE; Rajendra Kumar – ISOCARP, INDIA CITIES – INCLUSIVENESS AND COMMUNITY PLANNING  , dr Tatjana Mrdjenovic, BAB – GLOBAL VILLAGE UTOPIA OR REALITY? ; prof. dr Guido Cimadomo, Universidad de Malaga – UNIVERSAL AND SPECIALIZED EXPOS THROUGH THE LENS OF ISIE – Towards Belgrade 2027; prof. dr Dusan Borovcanin, Ministry of Science and Tachnological Development – EXPO 27 Belgrade

The conference gathered more than 30 academics among Balkan countries and wider region who presented their researchers in regards to main topic and special sessions. The main editor and conceptor of the BAB and international conference, Tatjana Mrdjenovic,announced the conference: „The proliferation of diverse socio-economic and cultural networks across various geographic regions, which are called the Global Village, is facilitated by the fundamental values and identities embraced by individuals worldwide. This network serves as the basis for a worldwide community that is referred to as the Global Village. Within the context of our increasingly interdependent global community, this idea stands as a singular example of new communalism. As a result, Global Village would like to draw your attention to the following topics, most of which are also being explored in the thematic sessions of the conference.“

KEYNOTERS

Pietro Elisei (Romania/Italy), town and regional planner, senior researcher, and policymaker. He collaborates, as a consultant, with ministries, cities, and towns all over Europe, holding important positions in international organizations dedicated to urban planning (PLANUM SG, ISOCARP VP). Pietro is the founder and director of URBASOFIA (www.urbasofia.eu). including ISOCARP President 2021 – 2024.

Rajendra Kumar is an architect based in New Delhi, India. He is Ex. Director of School of Architecture, Noida International University, Greater Noida. He was recently awarded the “Most Admired Education Influencers in India, 2022″and in past “Global Educational Influencer 2020” and “Indian Young Achievers Award” in 2009. He graduated from Chandigarh College of Architecture, India and Postgraduation from Politecnico Di Milano, Italy. He is member of ISOCARP, Netherlands, Council of Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat, USA.

Guido Cimadomo is an Associate Professor in Architectural History, Theory and Composition at the Department of Art and Architecture, University of Malaga (Spain) where he teaches since 2010. Guido is an Architect for the Politecnico di Milano (Italy) and PhD (Int. hons.) for Universidad de Sevilla. He is Expert member of the ICOMOS’ scientific committee CIPA for the Documentation of Architectonic Heritage, and a chair member of the Institute for the Study of the International Expositions (ISIE). Member of the Andalusian Research Group HUM-696 Utopia, his research strands deal with contemporary urban transformations, with special interest in bottom-up processes, tourism pressures and borderland flows; and the documentation and cataloguing of cultural heritage, with a special focus on vernacular architecture.

prof. dr Dušan Borovčanin, Ministry of Science, Technological Development and Innovation, Singidunum University, is an assistant professor at the Faculty of Tourism and Hotel Management, Singidunum University in Belgrade and visiting professor at the Faculty of Economics, University of Strasbourg. Since November 2023, he has been the director of EXPO 2027 Belgrade, the official organizer of the international specialized exhibition. Previously, from February 2022, he held the position of project manager of the candidacy of Belgrade and Serbia for EXPO 2027.Before joining the EXPO 2027 Belgrade project, he also held the position of director of the Congress Bureau of the Tourist Organization of Serbia.
