Balkan Architectural Biennale – BAB is inviting audience to the Opening ceremony of Biennal exhibition 2025: NEW BAUHAUS ON BALKAN, on 12th of November 2025 at 18.00, Salon of Belgrade City Museum, Bulevar kralja Aleksandra 30, Belgrade, SERBIA.
The exhibition should express explorations of Bauhaus ideals in Balkan architecture, sustainability, eco-design and community engagement, embracing the Bauhaus principles of simplicity, functionality, and holism. Architectural, urban, interior, industrial design and publications in the region should show adaptation of these ideals to their own unique cultural context, creating buildings that are both modern and rooted in tradition. Sustainability is also a key focus incorporating green design features and energy-efficient technologies. Community engagement is another important aspect, with architects and residents working together to create spaces that are inclusive, inviting, and reflective of the local identity.
Problemi održivog razvoja, koji se odnose pre svega na urbanističko planiranje, saobraćajnu infrastrukturu i ekološke principe uređenja, uveliko su prisutni u našim najvećim gradovima. Oni se razvijaju stihijski, bez značajnijeg konsultovanja struke, a kao rezultat dobijamo prostor koji je neodrživ za život, poslovanje i kulturni razvoj uopšte. The exhibition and book “Drawings and Sketches in Architecture” is the culmination of a decade-long series of events centered around the gathering and dissemination of architectural drawings created by domestic artists. The show will run from June 18 at 7 p.m. at the UK “Parobrod” until July 17, Kapetan Mišina 6a, Belgrade.
On Wednesday, April 3, at 19:00 in Parobrod, the Association Balkan Architectural Biennale will host a panel honoring architect Stojan Maksimović. Professor Branislav Mitrovic, architect Bojan Kovacevic, and art historian Marko Stojanović will all be speaking on the panel. One of Stojan Maksimović’s most famous quotes is “Sava Centar was built to last forever.” Thus, the character of architect Stojan Maksimović approaches it, just like his achievements.
BAB 23 – BACK TO THE ROOTS aims to spark discussions on the various paradigms of suburban, rural, and urban places in today’s global society, while recognizing local traditions as an essential ingredient of the Global Village pot. The main issue of debate is whether a Global Village should be classified as an idealistic paradise or a realistic prospect for the near future. Exhibition should open debate on the benefits and drawbacks of each type of site, taking into account aspects like population density, infrastructure, and accessibility to resources. It will further examine the cultural, social, economic, and environmental implications of developing architectural, technological, and urban design patterns of the Global Village concept.
