This Biennial exhibition enlightened Bauhaus ideals among Balkan architecture: sustainability, eco-design, community engagement, globalism and local identities, embracing the Bauhaus principles of simplicity, functionality, and holism. Awarded designs and publications showed adaptation to NEB ideals within unique cultural contexts, creating buildings and approaches that are both modern, addressing the NEB Agenda, and rooted in tradition. BAB 25: NEW BAUHAUS ON BALKAN – NOVI BAUHAUS NA BALKANU

The exhibition should express explorations of Bauhaus ideals in Balkan architecture, sustainability, eco-design and community engagement, embracing the Bauhaus principles of simplicity, functionality, and holism. Architectural, urban, interior, industrial design and publications in the region should show adaptation of these ideals to their own unique cultural context, creating buildings that are both modern and rooted in tradition. STOJAN MAKSIMOVIC – BUILT TO LAST FOREWER

On Wednesday, April 3, at 19:00 in Parobrod, the Association Balkan Architectural Biennale will host a panel honoring architect Stojan Maksimović. Professor Branislav Mitrovic, architect Bojan Kovacevic, and art historian Marko Stojanović will all be speaking on the panel. One of Stojan Maksimović’s most famous quotes is “Sava Centar was built to last forever.” Thus, the character of architect Stojan Maksimović approaches it, just like his achievements.
