The special issue of Urban Design International, Palgrave Macmillan, titled Reflections on Balkan Urbanism resulted from two international conferences: “Balkan Patterns in Architecture and Urbanism: Challenges” and “Decoding Balkan: Planning, Urbanism, Architecture” that were held in 2017 and 2019, respectively, in Belgrade, Serbia; these were conceptualized and directed by Tatjana Mrđenović, organized by the Faculty of Architecture in Belgrade and Balkan Architectural Biennale—BAB,and endorsed by International Society of City and Regional Planners—ISOCARP. The conferences intended to enlighten and discuss common denominators for further integration among Balkan states through architecture and urbanism.
