We are living in a Refugee World running away from ourselves. Constant movement is our pressure and release: We are nomads. Can global village be the shelter for us? Is it a new paradigm for architecture and planning?
Thematic sessions of the conference are:
1. Architecture of/for iconic nomads: patterns, forms, systems.
2. Organizing and arranging the global village: development instruments and models;
3. Resilient ways of living in global risks – COVID
4. Modern technologies in risk management of territories,
5. Forms of movement and mobility management in the global village,6. The Balkans beyond the Balkans
From a continuous continental territory to its separation from western Europe, and later to the fragmentation of ex-Yugoslavia, movements, of humans and non-humans, constantly and repeatedly crossed Europe.
16th century Rome can be seen as the result E-W and N-S cultural influences which enriched a new language.
Today, we can observe a de-growth of the influence of Balkan culture and society over the territory, but does this mean a limited relevance and representativity of Balkan cultures?
Despite current economy looking to a permanent growth as the only way to survive, we will focus on de-growth as a resilient alternative and opportunity.
We want to explore how Balkan experiences are coexisting with de-growth trends in their own countries and how they ‘resist’ in foreign countries (migration, asylum seekers) today and through history.
